What to expect during a bodywork session?

The video below shows a standard gentle bodywork session. We will address your whole body, because no injury affects just one single area of the body. Think of how differently your whole body moves when something hurts. When in pain, we compensate head-to-toe and completely change how we move around. During a session we will work together to:

1) Identify the root of the problem causing pain

2) Use bodywork to support the recovery process

3) Use rehab training to address the root cause

4) Return you to your life more aware and pain-free

My approach blends the most effective elements of chiropractic care, physical therapy, and massage therapy into a single, cohesive session.

Instead of quick adjustments or isolated techniques, I use gentle joint mobilization, assisted stretching, deep tissue and myofascial work, and targeted soft-tissue techniques to address pain, mobility, and function from head-to-toe.

Research consistently shows that conservative pain care is most effective when these approaches are combined. As a chiropractor, my training and scope of practice allow me to integrate them seamlessly, so your care is more effective, longer-lasting, and tailored specifically to your needs.

We feel the best when we are tuned into our bodies and consciously putting our own health & wellbeing as a top priority. My goal is to help you do exactly that. Together we will:

-Find movement you enjoy and incorporate it into your day

-Find the best diet for your body that makes you feel good

-Find healthy ways to manage life’s inevitable stress

-Educate yourself on your own health history and your family health history

-Establish your team of physical and mental healthcare providers to help you

-Listen to your body and advocate for yourself!

How?

-Gentle bodywork sessions - These establish your baseline for being relaxed and allow your body to recover from injury. Even though I am a chiropractor, I use the term “bodywork” because this is very different from chiropractic adjustments you may have see online or experienced in the past. I won’t be jumping on you or jerking you across the room. I know that works for some people, but that’s not me.

-Fixing repetitive motions - In most cases, we find that pain generators are compounding repetitive motions from work & hobbies. I’ll help you find the opposing motions to incorporate into your day to balance this out. This will not be 30+ exercises you have to do every day, either. I don’t even do that. The principle is minimum effort and maximum efficiency. You would be surprised how many basic positive movements you can incorporate into your daily routine without even realizing it.

-Talking about life - Look up “biopsychosocial model of health”. Health not just physiological processes. Our cultural beliefs, personal experiences, and general life stressors all contribute to our wellbeing. My office is safe place to talk freely about what’s on your mind or to not talk at all if that is what you need. I’m here to answer your questions as best I can and if I don’t know the answer, I’ll try to find it or find you someone else who can.

Dr. Andy Carper DC and Dogtor Otter will help you tune into your body’s needs!
